Visit from the 5th to the 13th of August 2016
Visite du 5 au 13 août 2016
So it is dark; the time is 21 hrs and we are parked up on the edge of the Panj River just a few kilometers in on the Wakhan Valley route. We are ‘hidden’ between the river and a huge boulder that has dislodged off the cliff face and is now parked on the river’s edge. It is cold, and the wind is howling and the dust is so thick it coats the eyes and the teeth. It is time to hide in bed when suddenly there is a tapping on the side of Biscotte. Frickin hell, the Army is here, clearly doing their night patrol, up-armed and uninterested in our presence. No need for Google Translate, the message is clear, we clear OUT.
